     Prader Willi Workshop

     On 13th December a second Prader Willi workshop was held at Centerparcs in Nottinghamshire. The session was attended by people we support with Prader Willi Syndrome from seven services; Mill House, Redbank House, Highfield Farm, Strafford House, Chestnut Grange, Beck Farm and Red House. Also in attendance were members of staff from each service, trainers and facilitators. A warm welcome was extended to Leigh Vallance, Chief Executive of the Prader Willi Syndrome Association.

  • Voyage Staff Achievement Awards Ceremony

    The fourth annual staff achievements awards ceremony took place on 8th June at The Heritage Motor Museum near Warwick. The twelve finalists were accompanied to the ceremony by one of their service users, a member of their team, the person who nominated them and their operations manager.

    Also in the audience were parents of service users and senior managers from Voyage. Prizes were presented by Bruce McKendrick, who explained that he and fellow judge, Mark Douglas, had toured the length and breadth of the country to visit each nominee at their service. This took them from Hartlepool to Taunton and from Norfolk to Wales. Bruce went on to explain that everyone who had reached this final stage were winners and out of the 5000 plus employees they had made it through to the final twelve.
     
    However, winners had to be decided and the following people took home the top awards: Maxine Hipwell from 5 Dawson Road, Handsworth scooped the award for Staff Member of the Year; The Bungalow, Taunton won the Team of the Year; Ruth Bailey from Talbot Court, West Bromwich was crowned Manager of the Year and the final award, the Sade Abayomi Memorial award, went to Centrica Lodge’s manager, Rebecca Harding.
     
    The other finalists also deserve a mention they are Sara Chamberlin from Elliott House and Emma Dighton from Lions Cross in the Staff Member of the Year category; teams from The Birds and Animals Centre and Belchford were the finalists in Team of the Year; the other finalists in Manager of the Year were Donald McLeod from Slough Resource Centre and Sam Brown from The Red House and in the final three for the Sade Abayomi Memorial Award were Tamba Koroma from Beech House and Operations Manager, Richard Fletcher.
